Reposting, since I was Tiger'ed at work, and was not allowed to post pictures from my phone.
Does anyone have a fuel cell with a recessed filler cap? I have a recessed, large mouth filter with the red plastic cap. It works, but when I go to a gas station, I have to shove the nozzle half way inside the cell to prevent splashing. I'd like to reverse engineer a recessed filler neck with a standard throat diameter. Anyone have one they could measure?
Here's what I have on the car now:
Compared to this:
I want to be able to use it like a regular gas neck when applying fuel, including the auto cutoff. That, and I have this, and would like for it to work:

Can't help you there, but my Grand Cherokee winter beater is real finicky with the angle you put the nozzle in the tank. If you don't have it angled just right, it trips the pump's auto shutoff thing. Oh and it's typically a good 17 gallon or so fill up. It takes a while. Which is great, because most of the time I'm filling it up in winter.

I have one, but it's not standard throat diameter, it's 3" diameter. Also that cage could use some WD-40 love. Also also I'm not keen on the battery being that close to the fuel cell. Especially when you're fueling. Just sayin.

One of the projects on the list for the summer is stripping the car down to the chassis and having it dipped and painted. Either POR-15 or powdercoating, haven't decided which. Until then, it looks pretty rat rod-ish.
No room for the battery up front. Eventually there's going to be a deck lid, I'd like to compartmentalize it. Perhaps box the battery in.
